Ryan played two years of varsity baseball at Shawnee High School and played in a state championship game during his junior year in which he had one of his team's five hits. He was also named to the Under Armour National Tournament Team. His hobbies include playing the drums, guitar, and piano, as well as golf. Ryan offers a solid bat from the left side and reliable presence in the field.
