FTBC sets new team record for wins in an NCBA season
The Florida Tech Baseball Club finished out the 2017 NCBA season in a big way this weekend, sweeping Stetson to finish 8-7 on the season. This breaks the FTBC's previous team record of six wins in an NCBA season, set in 2014, and is the first on-field series sweep (no forfeits involved) in club history.

The offense put up big numbers all weekend, with five different players posting an OPS over 1.000 in at least 10 trips to the plate over the three-game series. Jared Walker led the pack, going 7-9 with 2 2B, 3 BB, 4 R, and 4 RBI. Matt Ryan finished out his senior year with a huge weekend as well, putting up a 6-9 mark with 3 2B, 4 R, and 5 RBI. Robby Rew, never one to shy away from an offensive onslaught, notched a 5-11 weekend with 2 3B, 1 BB, 7 R, and 3 RBI. Blake Pryor rounded out the power breakout, going 5-10 with 2 2B, 1 BB, 3 R, and 4 RBI.

Pryor also cruised to a victory on the mound in game two, allowing only one run and notching six strikeouts over five innings while the FTBC's offense powered their way to a mercy-rule win. Walker picked up his team-leading third W of the season on the mound in game one, battling through some defensive miscues while striking out nine over seven innings. Nate Bonanno earned a W in game three, settling down after some early struggles to give the FTBC ample room to come back and win.

The FTBC bids a fond farewell to graduating seniors Matt Ryan and Nate Bonanno, and transferring freshmen Zach Moore and Luis Henriquez.

Matt leaves the team after a successful four-year career which sees him leave as the winningest player in NCBA seasons (20) in the club's history. Matt was a versatile and steady presence in the field in his eight seasons, and turned in some excellent offensive performances along the way. He will also always hold the honor of hitting the FTBC's first ever walk-off home run (against USF on 3/25/17).

Nate closes out his career after two years with the team, turning in 69.1 IP and notching 5 wins on the mound in that time, both good for 7th on the FTBC all-time lists.

Zach and Luis both turned in solid freshman campaigns, both at the plate and in the field, often anchoring the left side for the FTBC.

The Florida Tech Baseball Club wishes the best of luck to Matt, Nate, Zach, and Luis in their future endeavors.
