Though the Florida Tech Baseball Club has gotten off to a slow start this spring, the team pulled out a big win against conference foe University of Central Florida this past weekend by a score of 3-2. UCF is currently ranked ninth in the NCBA, which tops the team record for highest-ranked team beaten. The FTBC beat Penn State last year when PSU was ranked 10th.

The big win featured a stellar outing by freshman standout Adam Rieder. Having lost a game while only allowing only two runs (one earned) to FIU last weekend, Adam stepped up again and stifled a potent UCF offense. Adam threw 82 pitches for a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out four. In addition to his excellent performance on the mound, he also leads the team in several offensive categories.

Jose Dominguez deserves mention for his performance at the plate against UCF over the weekend. Jose was 3-9 with two doubles, a home run, one walk, and two runs scored on the weekend.

Next up, the FTBC heads over to Plant City next week to take part in the NCBA Spring Training Showcase. Make sure to check back for updates as the team looks to build momentum for the second half of the conference season with games on March 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
