The Florida Tech Baseball Club closed out their fifth annual trip to the NCBA Spring Training Showcase on Tuesday with a record of 2-1. The wins came against Western Michigan and Ohio, and the loss was to UNC - Charlotte. The biggest story of the showcase for the FTBC was dominant pitching and defense against Ohio in the last game of the showcase.

Taking the mound for only the second time this season, Eli Ginsburg tossed a gem against Ohio. Eli threw a complete game shutout, allowed only two hits, and struck out seven. Supporting his dominant performance, the FTBC's defense put on a highlight-reel display throughout the game. Sean Green and Matt Ryan had the left side of the infield locked down, both making sensational plays to take away several hits from Ohio. Not to be outdone, Jose Dominguez added a diving catch in the outfield during Ohio's only real threat in the 7th inning.

After a tough start to the season offensively, the team's bats woke up and posted a total of 32 hits over three games, and several players deserve recognition for their performance:

Jose Dominguez: 4-11 (2B, 3B, HR), 2 R, 2 RBI
Sean Green : 6-10 (2 2B), 2 R, 1 RBI
Ryan Haughey: 3-9, 1 R, 2 RBI (walk-off hit against W. Michigan)
Jeff Miller: 6-10 (2 2B), 2 R, 1 RBI
Matt Ryan: 5-9 (2B), 3 RBI
Wes Sanders: 3-12 (2 2B), 1 R

The FTBC now gets a couple weekends off from games before heading north to take on conference opponent University of Florida. Thanks for checking in, as the Florida Tech Baseball Club always appreciates the support of their fans!

Update: Green and Sanders earned NCBA South Atlantic South Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for Week 14 (2/24-3/2), respectively, and Ryan and Ginsburg repeated the same accomplishment for Week 15 (3/3-3/9).
