The Florida Tech Baseball Club picked up their first win of the young season on Wednesday night, beating the Brevard Bandits 2-0. Rookie Adam Madison was the story of the night, turning in a spectacular game on the mound to lead the team to victory.

Making his first pitching appearance for the FTBC, Madison tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out an impressive 10 batters while scattering three hits and walks. Adam struck out the side twice, and tossed a total of four three-up three-down innings on his way to shutting down the Bandits.

This marks only the second full-length (third overall) complete-game shutout in team history. Eli Ginburg threw one against Ohio this past spring, and Wes Sanders threw one in a mercy-rule shortened victory over the Brevard Tornados in fall 2011. This is also only the third double-digit strikeout performance in team history, and the first since fall 2011.

The offense, while sparse, was a team effort. Kevin Jefferson led off the game with a stand-up triple and was driven in on a sac fly by Sanders. Ryan Haughey singled to left in the 4th, moved to third on a single by Andrew Shillingsford, and scored on a grounder by Derek Maldonado.

Next up: The FTBC takes on the Mayhem Maniacs this Sunday, 1pm at Viera Regional Park. Come on out and support the team, and make sure to check back often to keep up with the team!
