The Florida Tech Baseball Club went on their annual trip to the NCBA Spring Training Showcase in Plant City, FL last week, playing four non-conference games against opponents from schools the team would otherwise not have the opportunity to meet. Though the FTBC came back without a win, the bats came alive in a big way, with the team as a whole posting a .327 batting average.
Leading the offense was Andrew Maris, who earned Conference Player of the Week honors for his performance at the Showcase. Overall, Maris was 8-for-12 with a homerun, five RBI, five runs scored, one walk, and one stolen base.
Sean Green put up an impressive line as well, going 6-for-12 with three doubles, a homerun, six RBI, four runs, and three walks over the four Showcase games. Derek Maldonado also deserves mention, going 6-for-12 with three runs and three RBI, with several of his hits coming in clutch situations.
Next up: the FTBC travels to Tallahassee to take on conference opponent Florida State, March 28-29.
