The Florida Tech Baseball Club picked up their first ever win over UF, 12-10.
The Florida Tech Baseball Club made team history this past weekend, picking up their first ever victory against U. of Florida by a score of 12-10. UF is currently ranked #7 in the NCBA (full rankings). This marks the second time this year the FTBC has taken down a top-10 opponent, as they defeated U. of Central Florida earlier in the season.

The bats exploded early against UF in game one, as the FTBC put up seven runs off of UF's starting pitcher, and tacked on five more while holding off the UF offense long enough to pull out the win. The effort was a well-balanced attack, with eight of nine lineup slots scoring at least one run. A few players are deserving of particular recognition at the plate: Jose Dominguez (2-4, HR, RBI, BB), Derek Maldonado (3-3, 2 R, 2 RBI ), and Adam Rieder (4-5, 2 R, RBI).

The FTBC also put up a strong showing in their second game against UF, losing by a score of 3-2. Rieder pitched a gutsy complete game, stranding runners left and right, but UF emerged with a narrow victory.

The team now gets a weekend off before resuming action in April. The FTBC will close out the season with back-to-back home series against Florida Gulf Coast U. and U. of Miami. Make sure to come out and support the Florida Tech Baseball Club as they look to finish up on a high note!
