The FTBC closed out an historic season with a 6-16 record.
In a spring that featured a tougher NCBA South Atlantic - South conference than ever, with three opponents (FSU, UCF, UF) ranked in the NCBA Top 20 poll for most of the season, the Florida Tech Baseball Club posted their strongest NCBA season ever. The FTBC finished out the year with a 6-16 record, earning several huge and historic wins, won more than three games in an NCBA season for the first time.

Some of the biggest highlights of the season came from a couple masterful pitching performances by freshmen Eli Ginsburg and Adam Rieder. Ginsburg threw the first full-length complete-game shutout in team history to earn a 2-0 victory over Ohio University in Plant City. Rieder threw a gutsy complete game to pick up a 3-2 win over UCF, allowing only one earned run to a potent UCF offense.

Rieder finished the season with the second-best ERA in team NCBA history, putting up a 5.63 mark. Andrew Todd deserves mention for his work on the mound as well, as he led the team in appearances (10) and pitched the second-most innings (30.1), while posting the fifth best ERA (5.93) in team NCBA history.

The FTBC also picked up wins in a few offensive slugfest games, including a first-ever win against University of Florida (2014 NCBA South Atlantic regional champion). Pacing the offense, Jose Dominguez and Sean Green put up some big numbers, with Rieder and Jeff Miller enjoying good seasons at the plate as well. Dominguez clubbed four home runs on the way to a .348/.483/.638 line, while Green carried a .317/.450/.444 line and hit the team's only other long ball. Rieder (.333/.420/.350) put up a solid showing in his freshman campaign, and Miller (.323/.408/.371) broke out with a career season.

In the record books, Head Coach Matthew Katona (37) passed FTBC Hall of Fame player/coach Mike Abercrombie (35) in wins as a coach. Dominguez became the first player in team history to reach 100 career RBIs, and set the single-season home run record with four dingers.

With their best NCBA season in the books, there is a lot to look forward to when the team resumes action next year. In the meantime, feel free to check out the Purple Dragons, where many current and retired FTBC players spend their summer playing.

As always, the Florida Tech Baseball Club appreciates the continued support of their family and friends.
